Martin (Marty) A. Mimmack was born (1961) in Santa Clara, California. The youngest of six boys, in 1964 Marty served as the Santa Clara County March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation Poster Child. Five years later, he was chosen to be their National Poster Boy and then their Goodwill Ambassador. During Marty’s tenure with the Foundation he met former U.S. Presidents Carter, Nixon, Ford and Reagan, as well as Kareem Abdul-Jabber, Neal Armstrong and Arnold Palmer. He also recorded radio announcements, anchored telethons and served as a media spokesperson. The organization also featured him in several short film documentaries: Arnold Palmer and Marty, Little Marty, Keep on Walking, and Marco and Me.

These early experiences paved the way for Marty to begin speaking at youth leadership conferences. He also participated in Jr. Achievement and was selected as Speaker of the Year during his senior year (1980) at Cupertino High School.
Santa Clara University awarded Marty a speech scholarship to participate in their Intercollegiate Forensics Program. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy in 1984.

Following graduation from Santa Clara University, he held jobs with the Federal Communications Commission in Washington D. C and as a Business Manager/Bookkeeper for a retail/wholesale packing supplies store in San Jose.

In 1992, Marty earned a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Jose State University. Then, in 1996, he graduated from Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo) with a Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in Counseling and Guidance. During the 8 years he has lived on California’s Central Coast Marty has served as a community volunteer, substitute teacher, education commission staffer, High Tech Specialist and standup comedian.
